UT Riders that I know made mains:
Bennett Newkirk
Sophia Foresta
Joey Foresta
Savannah Foster
AJ Calor
Brinlee Fordham

Robby Patterson

I am sure I missed some and sorry I dont have details, but when races go on that long you have a tendency to leave when your done

Every UT rider left what they had out on the track and has plenty to be proud of just for making it past the weekend!

Alright first I have to say in 17-18 Inter there were 21 riders not 20.

My Dad, MOM, and I arrived around 5pm Thursday and already the place was packed with BMXers. After we had checked in and relaxed for a minute in our room I decided to go see if I could sneak into the arena to get a look at the track, just as I'm heading to the stairs to take you into the arena the owner of the ABA walks out and says "we just closed her up" darn soo close to getting that sneak peak at the track before anyone else. So I go back up to the room. We decided to go eat somewhere for dinner and went to the Silverado Steakhouse. All I got to say is if you love steak and seafood this place is by far the best place I have ever been to. It's soo good. Anyways after dinner I meet up with some friends and we decide we're going to try and sneak into the 21 and over pool party haha. They had to security guards standing by the doors to go to the pool and we noticed they didn't check id's they pretty much did it by how you looked. Well we got inside the pool party it was pretty fun loud music lots of lights. After the pool party we walked around the casino for a little and then I decided to go up to the room and get some sleep. Wake up go down with my parents and get some breakfast. After breakfast its time to head over to the track because they are opening the doors in about 10 minutes. The track I swear was shorter than last years atleast it sure seemed like it. I heard it was about 725 ft long. For those who went last year but not this year the starting hill was on the opposite side of the arena out of the gate you hit a small table and then a step up into the 1st turn. Inside gates and good snaps were criticall this weekend. After turn one you had two doubles going into the 2nd turn. After turn 2 you had a very small rhythm with 2 rollers table then 3 or 4 rollers going into turn 3 after turn 3 roller to a tall table to finish line. Turn 3 had some great moves made all weekend. Friday 157 motos exactly I have 10 riders. All through practice I was wishing I had a different gear a more spinnier one haha. I was feeling like crap during practice. 1st round of motos I felt horrible mad with myself and my gear but I was getting used to it. 2nd round the guy running the gate was running them soo quickly you barely had time to clip in. I had an outside gate of the 2 other riders and i had just put my right foot in when "ok riders set em up" oh crap I'm thinking I barely get my left foot in the pedal in time. I don't even get a snap out but I move over and I take a 2nd to the main. Main comes around gate 7 don't get a good snap and I'm in about 5th going into the 1st turn someone slides out infront of me I run him over fall get up and get a 7th.

Saturday: Feeling a lot better in practice my gates are good and I'm finally getting used to my gear at that track (still wish I had put a different one but oh well). I go check motos and there are 378 motos I'm moto 43 and 339.. WOW!! It was liek a mini grands haha. Anyways open I have 14 riders and in class I have 21 riders. I miss open by one spot. I make it to my semi in class in the 1st round. After DNQing in open in 2nd round my mom dad and I go get seom lunch and relax for a while. Go back after lunch and they still havent fnished 2nd round they were on like moto 260. They had something like 113 quarters and 136 semis. Semis started aound 6 I didn't race till 7:45. I was semi 126 with 8 riders and they were taking 4. I was luck and had gate 1 in my semi. I was thinking I can do this and I felt like I was going to throw up my stomach. I go to staging and I see Jason Stout and start talking to him he helped me relax a lot by telling me to just breathe. THanks Jason!! Anyways Sitting in the gate cadence comes on and then bam we're off. I go into the 1st turn in 3rd bumping elbows the whole way down and into the turn. Anyways I get 3rd and make it to my main. Main I have gate 2. I get a horrible gate get squeezed in the 1st turn and come out of the turn in 7th i pass one guy in the last turn and get 6th. Really I was sooo happy just to make it to my main because I've never had 21 riders before. I was a little mad though with my main. So races started at 11am didn't finish till 10pm

Sunday: this will be quick I missed open and class by one spot. I didn't get out of rounds to my semi in class :(. I think they had 351 motos on Sunday.

Everyone from Utah rode great it was no doubt the hardest race I've ever been to. In no way am I dissappointed I only wish I could've made it Sunday also. But I am happy with how I rode and I had a happy ride home from Vegas just knowing wow I was number 6 out of 21. It was a great confidence boost for me and I look forward to going to Vegas next year. COngrats to everyone who rode in Vegas it was tough! Anyways I'll see everyone out at Rad Canyon Saturday morning and at Tooele Saturday night.

What a huge race!

My mom and sister came to the race. They embarssed me with a sign that my cute little 4 year old neice and 2 year old nephew made for me. Amy's Aunt Julie came as wel.

The indoor arena, the AC, and the chairs with backs on them made the 12 hours of racing, and screaming a little tolerable for my crew.

I got stuck in lane 8 in both bikes in qualifier and in the semis. I couldn't get it done in cruiser. I was really bummed! I tried to make a move downt the 3rd straight- but i got the door shut in my face!

Class- I barely made my main- which prolonged my stay for another few hours! 5th in the main. Not bad I guess.

AMY MAH had a great weekend in 31-35 cruiser. She was on of 5 ladies. She took 4th her first lap. She shot out of the gate her 2nd lap and lead the first 2 straights. She left the door open in the 2nd corner and got passed by both the ladies. The 2nd one shut the door on her. I think that's the first time Amy has had "the move" put on her.

Amy had a great weekend! She rode really well and we both had a lot of fun!

Olsen- that breathing technique I just learned. I don't know if many of you before a race breath in and feel like you can't get enough air. It's usually a nerves thing. I found my self taking in too much air- so I had to use the technique too. Just breath out- all the way- several times. It will calm you down. If you're too calm for a race- just breath in- a lot!

Congrats to all the Utah riders for doing so well down there. I look forward to the locals and nationals we still have left this season.

JS
